2021 has well and truly arrived and now is a great time to take the plunge and build your first home!

We know the idea of building new can seem like a daunting process, but our team of experts are here to help you - every step of the way until you are in your new Golden Home.

We have outlined the initial steps needed to get you started on your first home, new build journey:

Step 1

Visit one of our showhomes that are located nationwide and have a chat to our team. All showhome locations can be viewed here: https://www.goldenhomes.co.nz/showhomes

Step 2

To enable us to help you, we need guidance from you about the budget for your build. We have mobile mortgage managers available who understand construction lending and can assist in finding out what you can borrow. Alternatively, you can talk to your own bank or mortgage broker.

Step 3

There are three government home ownership options designed to help first home buyers - you may be eligible to access one or all three. By combining all three you could have a larger deposit and be able to finance your new home more easily.

The products are:

First Home Kiwisaver Withdrawal

First Home Grant
After three years of regularly contributing to KiwiSaver at the minimum percentage of your total income, you may be entitled to the First Home Grant of up to $10,000. For more information and to check your eligibility, click here: https://kaingaora.govt.nz/home-ownership/first-home-grant/

First Home Loan
This can make it easier for you to get into your first home. Instead of requiring a 20 percent deposit like many loans, a First Home Loan only requires you to have a 5 percent deposit. Once you know your budget, we can then move onto all the exciting parts of buying your first home: choosing your site, creating your wish list and choosing from our range of plans, or designing one, to suit your budget and section size.
